Following the Isolation tour and the Isolation album, guitarist Steve Lukather and drummer Jeff Porcaro decided to include a second keyboardist and vocalist to the group. They auditioned several musicians, including Fergie Fredericksen, and then chose Joseph Williams.
In the year 2018, Toto released a new album titled Old Is New and embarked on a world tour to promote the album. They were joined by touring musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham, and Shem von Schroeck.
